Apply for the Maine Union Tradeswomen Training in South Portland

The Union Construction Academy of Maine and People's Inclusive Welding are currently accepting applications for a Union Tradeswomen Training session from November 11 to December 13,  in South Portland. The training will provide a foundation in welding skills, industry-recognized safety credentials, and an understanding of the meaning and benefits of union membership. Eligible participants will receive a stipend of $300/wk for participation in the training.

This pre-apprenticeship provides a pathway into union apprenticeships in various metal trades at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, as well as other Building and Construction Trades Unions, including the Laborers, Ironworkers, Plumbers & Pipefitters, and Sheetmetal Workers.

The welding portion of the training will be followed by an additional week of instruction with the Union Construction Academy, which will include OSHA-10 and First-Aid/CPR certifications, financial-literacy and professional skills training, women’s health and inclusivity training, AccuPlacer Exam preparation, labor history, and site visits to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
