About Us

We are one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO and are the heart of the labor movement. We are democratically elected bodies dedicated to represent the interests of working people at the state and local level. We mobilize our members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice and we strive daily to vanquish oppression and make our communities better for all people—regardless of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or ethnic or national origin.

Our council is made up of unions with members living or working in Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties in Maine .Affiliated unions are allowed delegates based on the number of members they have in those counties. Only delegates may vote but all union members and others supporting our causes are welcome at meetings and events.

We meet monthly on the third Tuesday of the month form 6;00 to 7:30pm at IBEW Local 567. Committees and planning teams for our events and other matters meet as needed. Affiliated unions are allowed a number of delegates based on their membership in our three counties
