"Workers Rising Everywhere" Organizing Training

“Now we need the power built to win it. We have plenty of good ideas that never happen, all for lack of deep organizing!” – Jane McAlevey.

Organizing for Power (O4P) is a free online training and networking program for organizers worldwide. More than 10,000 workers from 6 continents and 70 countries have joined O4P trainings in the past 18 months – including organizers from several of unions here in Maine.

The Maine AFL-CIO is again building a team of union members and workers who want to strengthen organizing in their unions and the labor movement to participate together in this class.

Workers Rising Everywhere is the fourth training in the O4P series led by labor organizer and educator Jane McAlevey, and hosted by the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung. This training series focuses on building large (super!) majorities in settings such as workplaces, unions, and housing complexes in order to win the toughest campaigns and organizing battles.

This training features new trainers and inspiring campaign stories from around the world. Using a variety of methods and small-group sessions, participants will focus on developing core organizing skills including: leader identification, 1-on-1 conversations, charting, and structure tests. The activities are designed so everyone can learn together. Watch this short video about the class:

Sessions run from May 18 until June 22, once per week, always on Tuesdays and taking place twice daily to accommodate a global audience. The trainings will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation to Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

The training starts on May 18th and runs once per week for six consecutive Tuesdays, with the last class on June 22nd. Each class lasts 2 hours. Participants will be encouraged to complete optional organizing assignments in between classes.
