COPE Convention

The Maine AFL-CIO COPE (Committee on Political Education) Convention will be held ONLINE on June 25th and 26th, 2020.

Local union Presidents received an email with the Convention Call and link to delegate registration.

Registration is required by FRIDAY JUNE 19th.  Local Presidents may submit delegate and alternate credentials in one of three ways below.  If you don't know how many delegates your union is alloted, please contact [email protected] or 207-622-9675.

3). This form can be printed, filled out, and mailed to 21 Gabriel Drive, Augusta, ME 04330.

Note: If getting the credential signed by your union President is an issue because of COVID-19  please submit the credential and we will confirm with your union President.

Program Book

Awards & Program Book:  We will be putting together a program book for this convention. The program book will be shared as a pdf with all convention attendees and will be streamed at different points throughout the convention. This year’s convention will be honoring the following award winners:

 Solidarity Award – Kennebec Valley Community Action Program (KVCAP) drivers, Machinists S89 members, for organizing a worker led campaign to build their union, win a first contract and improve the services they provide to our communities.

 President's Award  USW 366 & IATSE 114 union members for stepping up and revamping American Roots to produce protective equipment for frontline workers across the country.     

Edie Beaulieu Award – State Representative Scott Cuddy (D – Winterport) and IBEW 1253 member for bringing his union experience to the Legislature and for his leadership and support of working class people and priorities. 

Working Class Hero Award:  The Oberson-Brogden family (Erin Oberson, Maine State Nurses Association/NNU & Andrew Brogden, IAFF 3106) for working tirelessly to build a stronger movement and for always making union business family business.  

Steward of the Year:  The Maine AFL-CIO will also be recognizing a steward of the year at this year’s convention.  You can see the criteria and nominate a steward here:
